Besides they'll have open alphas,Betas to test and they've confirmed there will be MANA burning. Actually there is a public testing of one of the features that just opened. So it is a real thing and not a scam. But hard to tell if the project will hit it big or not. Also the price just went up to 0.12 and overall imo is a cool project. As far as which one is better I wouldnt know. Imo that's up to you to define. A small amount = something that if stolen it wouldn't be a major problem for you. I guess one analogy could be whatever you like to carry around in your wallet/house versus whatever you store in a real bank. If you leave it in coinbase itself, its like having it with you all time. It can get stolen but you can easily trade it. Big amounts or if you want to forget about coins and check back in a year or more then personal would the best option. I do believe hard wallets cost ~70 USD so they are expensive. Its up to you. When you transfer coinbase tells you the minimum amount of confirmations needed, once that threshold is met you'll see the balance on the other side. And how easy is it to actually understand wallets? Fairly easy. Lets say you buy 1BTC. How do we know you own it? Well you need to store it in a "wallet" which is pretty much and id. Like your bank account routing number. Whenever you buy, the coins are then sent to your id. The id has both a public and secret part. Only you have the secret part (lets call it a password) so only you can spend the money. If you buy stuff via coinbase or other webste, the website creates a wallet for your account. However this means that website has both the id and password so you don't really "own" them. They could just withdraw your funds if they wanted to scam you. There are other types of wallet, for example the external devices. These usb-like pieces will create an account for you. Give you the id and password so that only you have it. You write these down on a paper and store them safely. The device will also have the information but is further protected by another password that you create. So the only way someone can steal your wallet is by finidng the piece of paper you wrote which makes it more secure. Then on the network everyone knows that "id=NoMel" account has 1 btc hence you own it now. This is possibe as the ledger is public meaning everyone can see all transaction history since the beginning of the coin. I'd reccomend starting to read about it online and as the other poster mentioned it seems the mayor coins are going down which is unfortunate for me. Basic tips: 1- Assume the money you put in will be lost. 2- If you plan on spending a big amount of money consider getting a hard wallet 3- Fees are high unless you link your bank account and "learn" to use gdax, a less user friendly but simple to use interface. To get started: Register to coinbase where you can buy and sell the 3 mayor coins If you want to gamble with altcoins I'm using binance but in order to trade there you need to buy bitcoins and then trade them there (so you still need to register at coinbase). Even if the video shows you at the desk: 1- if it can be seen you were not typing or clicking anything that proves it was not you 2- Even if you were using it, the records have the other guys account so (unless he is a really good friend), you should have a strong case of you didnt do it as the system says a different name. That is the source of truth and is the other guy mistake for leaving his account opened which is a big security issue anyway and he should get fired. The system Im assuming also doesnt have a single login restriction, so it is totally possible that someone else on a different device logged in with the same account. If they don't agree that the system is the source of truth, then you can use the same argument that if you dont trust the system you cannot trust the edit time as the system doesn't work... so you being on the desk at that given time proves nothing. Heck, even if they still point at you since you were using the pc. You can say that you actually logged off the other guy account anyway due to security protocols and there is most likely no way to verify that you didn't On a side note, wouldn't it be possible to see other security cameras to see who entered or actually grabbed the wallet?
